Almost 2 1/2 years ago, I gave birth to triplets. This is the last picture I have of my pregnant belly. I was 27 weeks pregnant. Shortly after this photo was taken, I was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia and put on hospital bedrest. Bedrest meant that I didn’t get up at all. Not even to go to the bathroom.
I wasn’t keen on having my photo taken in the hospital. I felt absolutely miserable and didn’t really want photo documentation. Just before I went into the delivery room, I was weighed. I came in at a staggering 244 pounds. The only photo of me from the hospital was taken after the children were born when I had my first meal as a new mom with my husband.
The last two years have been all about being a mom. With work, school, and tiny triplets I just didn’t have the margin to focus on myself. As the kids have gotten older and my school schedule has lightened up, I have been able to reclaim some time to work on improving my fitness.
I am not one of those women who bounced back after pregnancy. Not even close. When I began this journey, I hadn’t worked out in almost three years. I doubted whether or not I was even going to be able to do a workout program like 21 Day Fix, but I had to do something.
I signed up for the program through my friend and fitness coach, Kendra Mason. I hated the idea of taking pictures and measurements, but it was highly recommended, so I did it. Here they are:
Weight: 158 lbs
Chest: 41 inches
Right Arm: 12.5 inches
Left Arm: 12.5 inches
Waist: 38 inches
Hips: 41 inches
Right Leg: 24.5 inches
Left Leg: 24 inches
Yikes! That was tough to share. I started following the 21 Day Fix Eating plan on October 5th. It was simple. I measured things in the provided containers. I worked out for 30 minutes a day. I drank Shakeology. (Side note: Shakeology is amazing. Seriously. Completely curbed my cravings for sweets. I’ve had a sweet tooth my whole life. It’s gone now. I still can’t believe it.)
I did my meal prep in bulk, then just filled up the containers each day to keep my portions under control.
Egg muffins made a terrific on-the-go breakfast for busy mornings.
I started to look forward to the Shakeology every morning after my workouts.
Finally, at the end of Week 2, I started to see a little movement on the scale.
I got accustomed to packing my food for the day. This also helped save money and gave me a chance to read during lunch rather than leaving to buy food.
Keeping track of measurements and taking photos helped me to see progress that wasn’t visible on the scale. Had I been depending on the scale alone to get me through this program, I’m pretty sure I would have quit.
I kept working out and started to see a little more progress on the scale.
I kept drinking Shakeology and fell in love with the way it made me feel more energetic.
As I approached the final days, I knew I was ready for another round.
I couldn’t believe how much progress I made in only three weeks! I lost 15 inches and 6 pounds. AMAZING!
Chest: 36.5 inches
Right Arm: 12 inches
Left Arm: 12 inches
Waist: 32 inches
Right Leg: 23 inches
Left Leg: 23 inches
The most important part of this journey was the accountability group that I got join. We helped to cheer each other on and gave each other motivation to keep going. The group also had fitness coaches who were a wealth of knowledge and offered tips and recipes to help us all succeed. I was so excited about the results that I immediately began preparing for a second round!
And on November 2nd, I started 21 Day Fix again!!!
I’m currently on Day 19 and have made even more progress toward my goals. I will share the final results of Round 2 with you next week as well as the Instagram profile where I’ve been keeping track of everything so far.
I am also preparing to begin 21 Day Fix Extreme soon after I finish Round 2. I would love to extend an invitation for you to join our next challenge group, Savor the Seasons, on December 5th. All you have to do is order a Challenge Pack with Shakeology from this website and I can get you added to the group.(If you’re reading this after December 5th, don’t fret! You can still order a Challenge Pack and I’ll get you added to the next available group.)
